Mortality from cerebrovascular disease. A study based on data from hospitalization benefits.

چکیده
The study group included Dai-ichi Life policyholders who were covered by both a hospitalization and a life policy and who were admitted to a hospital between April 1985 and March 1993 with a diagnosis of cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, or subarachnoid hemorrhage. Policyholders who were hospitalized for less than five days were excluded because contract language required a five-day waiting period before a claim could be submitted. Follow-up continued until the death benefit was paid or the end of the study period and averaged 18 months (range five days to six years). Expected deaths were determined from the fifth Japanese Life Insurance Mortality Table 1984-1985. The number alive at start was expressed as the number of policies instead of the number of policyholders. Results & Discussion
